In this week’s adventures with AI: Our LCMS likely doesn’t provide an easy way to see all the links across all topics, which, if you work in tech documentation, you know is incredibly valuable.
This matters because:
• It helps identify broken or outdated links.
• It shows how topics are connected (great for content audits and reuse).
• It supports improving navigation and user experience.
So, I asked AI for help. It generated a Python script that reads the exported files and creates a CSV file listing the topic name, link URL, and link text for every link found.
This gives us visibility that our LCMS doesn’t natively provide, and a potential path forward for link analysis and cleanup.
Of course, there’s a snag: how do we export all the content from the LCMS, because that’s not a native capability?
Whether we find a workaround or the vendor helps us, AI continues to be a great partner for creative problem-solving in documentation workflows.
